Local no-alcohol beer brewer wins ACT Telstra business award

A local no-alcohol beer brewer and an organisation helping neurodivergent people find employment are among the inaugural ACT winners of the 2022 Telstra Best of Business Awards, celebrating and recognising small and medium sized businesses.

Thriving, independent Australian beer brewer, Heaps Normal has been awarded with the Embracing Innovation and Outstanding Growth Award. Canberra based Curijo won the Indigenous Excellence Award. Curijo is a leading Aboriginal owned and controlled management consultancy in Canberra, specialising in Aboriginal affairs. Its holistic and humanistic approach helps provide opportunities of employment and nurtures other Aboriginal peoples and businesses to establish and grow.

NatureArt Lab took home the Promoting Sustainability Award. NatureArt Lab’s unique art courses and nature tours actively contribute to environmental education through citizen science and community arts initiatives, exhibitions and publishing projects.

Julia Landford, NatureArt Lab Founder, received the Promoting Sustainability Award.

Employ for Ability was awarded the Building Communities Award, for its incredible work helping individuals with Autism and Neurodiversity navigate the job search process. Its dedicated team continues to help organisations understand the benefits of hiring neurodivergent people as part of social inclusion and diversity programs.

Telstra Consumer and Small Business Group Executive Michael Ackland said the ACT winners of the 2022 Telstra Best of Business Awards were outstanding examples of small and medium sized businesses whose ingenuity and resilience has led them to thrive amid such testing times.

“Each business is an inspiration in its own right, and it is a privilege to be able to celebrate the incredible impact these winners have had on the customers and communities they serve,” Mr Ackland said.
