North Pole Lane ‘a Canberra Christmas must-see’

North Pole Lane, an immersive Christmas experience for the whole family, has been a decade in the making. It is the brainchild of midwife Mindy Dominick, who took a break from her career at the Canberra Hospital to focus on the event, and fought through cancer treatment to bring the event to Canberra in 2022.

Now North Pole Lane is back, at Majura Park, and Santa has added a sleigh-load of new features! There’s Rudolph the red-nosed reindeer, a snow garden with giant flowers and butterflies, and new characters on the lane.

“It is such a wonderful idea; I just need the support of Canberra to get the event off the ground so I can continue to make it bigger and better every year,” Ms Dominick said. “There are so many reasons I would like to continue this event and make special memories for families at Christmas.”

Visitors enter North Pole Lane via a big story book. They step into a snow forest to meet the snow princess and her life-sized animatronic polar bear, then travel on down the lane to sit on Santa’s sleigh with Rudolph at the helm. They can interact with Santa’s helpers in the wrapping room, and see the big man in red – Santa Claus! Then off to the post office to write a letter.

Other highlights include a Cinderella Christmas tree to celebrate 100 years of Disney; a gingerbread family complete with dog (and dog kennel!); a North Pole train station; and the Ginger and Clove bakery display window.

Melissa Evans, Canberra Airport’s head of marketing and communication, said: “Adding to the line-up of events this Christmas at Majura Park Shopping Centre, we are so excited to have North Pole Lane joining us for the festive season. North Pole Lane is the ultimate Canberra Christmas must-see.”

Exploring the 600 square metres of North Pole Lane takes around an hour. Affordable mini photo shoots with Santa – right in his lounge room – are available for purchase while at the experience.

This is a ticketed event due to the theatrical nature of the experience.
