A woman in her 50s who is a close contact of a previous confirmed case is the only new case of COVID-19 recorded in the ACT in the past 24 hours to midday Monday 13 April. The ACT’s total is now 103.
A total of 72 cases in the ACT have recovered from COVID-19 and have been released from self-isolation.
There are currently three COVID-19 patients in Canberra hospitals. The remainder are isolating at home with ACT Health support.
The ACT has recorded two deaths.
The number of negative tests in the ACT is now 6,191.
Nationally, as at 6am on 13 April, there were 6,322 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Australia. Of these confirmed cases, 61 have died from COVID-19. More than 356,000 tests have been conducted across Australia.
Cases under investigation
In the ACT, there are a total of two cases under investigation.
ACT Health is awaiting further test results to help determine their sources of exposure.
Acting ACT Chief Health Officer Vanessa Johnston said the first case, which has been under investigation for about two weeks, should be finalised soon, but the second case, which involved a staff member in the ICU at The Canberra Hospital, was still in the early stages.
“We are exploring all potential sources of exposure but I would like to thank all of the individuals involved in this case for taking all of the correct actions to minimise the chance of transmission,” Dr Johnston said.
“Both the individual who tested positive for COVID-19, and their close contact who has recently returned from overseas, did everything they were supposed to do in their situations and we thank them for taking all the right steps.”
