Only Everything: A heart-warming local rom-com

It’s not every day a local couple writes, produces and performs a rom-com musical inspired by their real-life relationship.

In Only Everything, Shell Abdoo (as Tori) and Berin Denham (as Aaron) share the missteps, humour and vulnerability of finding love after divorce.

Joining them onstage are Canberra musical theatre doyenne, Louiza Blomfield, as Tori’s caring older and wiser sister Emma, and David Pearson as Aaron’s amusingly inappropriate wingman, Simon.

Along the way, our characters navigate the fraught and comedically rich world of dating apps, the challenges of single parenting, leaving bad relationships behind, finding oneself again, shared interests, and feeling clueless in love.

This heartfelt story will resonate with almost anyone who has ever experienced the breakdown of a romantic relationship and felt unsure about finding love again (or knows someone who has).

It’s a rollercoaster ride that offers plenty of laughs, poignant moments, and rays of hope, even for the hopelessly unromantic.

The music is catchy and the lyrics are clever.

Joining the four actors on stage is the band: Nicholas Griffin (keys/MD), Dylan Slater (guitar), Christopher Pound (bass) and Ben Schumann (drums).

On opening night, 17 October, the music was a little too loud, at times making it difficult to hear the lyrics.

See Only Everything at the Courtyard Studio, Canberra Theatre Centre, until 26 October. Tickets: canberratheatrecentre.com.au
