Coronavirus restrictions have inspired many Australian homeowners to renovate or declutter their house in the hope of increasing the enjoyment of their space while in lockdown.
Home renovation website, Houzz, surveyed more than 2,200 Australian homeowners in July and found three-quarters wanted to make changes to their home.
Most people wanted to upgrade their outdoor space (30%), followed by the kitchen (26%), then the bathroom (24%).
The survey found nearly two-thirds of homeowners were already planning or completing a renovation or design project when the pandemic was declared on 12 March.
But the pandemic didn’t stop many spirited renovators; only 2% cancelled their project, 25% delayed their project and 62% kept on going.
It wasn’t just renovations that kept Australian homeowners busy; 56% of those surveyed spent time decluttering, organising or cleaning and tidying up.
Just under 50% of respondents got happy in the kitchen, with increased time spent cooking and baking.
Many renovators went high-tech during coronavirus, with four out of five using online tools for shopping, invoicing, payments, remote communication, or contract discussions.
Last month, Houzz released online renovator tools in their Houzz Pro marketing and management software.
