UPDATE: Woman rescued after falling at Booroomba Rocks

ACT Policing and emergency services have rescued a 26-year-old Canberra woman after she fell from a rock face while rock climbing at Booroomba Rocks in the Namadgi National Park, ACT this morning.   

About 11.30am today, Thursday, 30 December 2021 police received a report of an injured climber on the Hermes Climbing Track, Booroomba Rocks.  It was reported the 26-year-old woman fell approximately six to eight meters down a rock face while rock climbing in the area, and was found by an off-duty police officer (ACT Policing) shortly after who called for assistance. The off-duty member is also a part-time member of the AFP Search & Rescue Team and was able to guide rescuers to the injured woman as well as providing vital information about her condition.

Due to the location of the injured woman, a coordinated rescue was made using AFP Search and Rescue (SAR), ACT State Emergency Service (SES), ACT Ambulance Service (ACTAS), ACT Parks and Toll Rescue assets.    

The woman was assessed and treated at the scene by ACTAS remote access paramedics before being successfully airlifted by the Toll Rescue helicopter about 2.30pm.  The woman has been taken to hospital for further medical treatment.  It is believed her injuries are not life threatening.
