The Place Design Brief sets out community aspirations to ensure that the Lawson Mixed Use site can be developed into a liveable, green and vibrant hub that supports the local neighbourhood.

The Brief is based on feedback from stakeholders and community. The ACT Government says it forms an important part of the tender documentation for the site, which will be released next week.

โ€œItโ€™s important that Canberransโ€™ views are placed first as we co-design our future public spaces together,โ€ Yvette Berry, ACT Minister for Housing and Suburban Development, said.

โ€œThroughout consultation, the community particularly raised the need for thriving retail options. We have heard that loud and clear.

โ€œWe also heard that a strong community presence, an ease of getting around and embracing Lake Ginninderra are central elements of what the community wants to see in the future at this site.โ€

Lawson is expected to grow to nearly 5,000 residents in the next few years.

โ€œI look forward to welcoming future residents to the Belconnen region and showing them what an amazing area it is,โ€ Ms Berry said.

Developers interested in submitting their proposals and concept designs for the site must respond to the Place Design Brief, amongst other criteria. The Place Design Brief is available online at yoursayconversations.act.gov.au/LawsonMixedUseSite.
