Police seized two firearms and arrested a man found sleeping in a car with a visible rifle, following reports of a suspicious vehicle parked in Moulden Court, Belconnnen, at 5am on Monday 11 January.
The engine was still running when ACT Policing arrived at the scene and noticed an unsecured rifle inside the vehicle.
Police gained entry to the vehicle, arrested the man and secured the vehicle, having obtained a search warrant beforehand.
The firearms were identified as a 12 gauge shotgun and a .44 calibre rifle, and police also seized a quantity of shotgun shells.
Currently on a good behaviour bond, the driver will face court charged with unauthorised possession of a firearm, driving unlicensed, failure to comply with storage requirements, and possessing ammunition on Friday, 15 January.
