It’s been a busy 24 hours for ACT Policing with three separate arrests for driving and property offences, while investigations continue into a suspected high-speed motorcycle collision in Gilmore overnight.
Three men will face court today on multiple property and driving offences after being arrested by police.
City Station general duties officers arrested a 48-year-old man in Dickson yesterday, Thursday 21 October. He will face charges relating to the theft of a Nissan Navara on Wednesday 13 October and other property offences.
Yesterday afternoon, Gungahlin Station general duties officers arrested a 27-year-old Moncrieff man when they recognised him as a driver who had allegedly failed to stop when directed to do so last Friday, 15 October. Subsequent investigation revealed the man had previously been disqualified from driving and was in possession of a baton.
Investigations into this man are continuing and police anticipate laying further charges against him.
Shortly after 3am today, City Station general duties officers arrested a 38-year-old Nicholls man after he allegedly failed to stop his vehicle for police in Kingston and attempted to flee on foot after abandoning the Mazda sedan. The man, who is on a good behaviour order, will face two counts of failing to stop for police, and two counts of reckless driving.
ACT Road Policing’s Major Collision Team is investigating a single motorcycle collision on Louisa Lawson Crescent, Gilmore.
About 11.35pm Thursday, police officers observed a black motorcycle with no number plate attached being ridden on the Monaro Highway, Hume at an estimated 150km/h. A short time late, police located the motorcycle that had hit a light pole.
The 35-year-old driver was transported to hospital by ACT Ambulance Service paramedics, with multiple injuries.
