Police investigating shooting in Palmerston

ACT Policing is investigating a shooting incident in Palmerston yesterday afternoon, Thursday, 27 May.

At approximately 2.15pm, police received reports that a man in Bendora Crescent, Palmerston had received a gunshot wound.

At the same time, police received reports a vehicle was being driven erratically around Palmerston, and that people were running along streets and jumping fences. One of them was reportedly carrying a firearm.

On arrival, officers confirmed the man had received injuries consistent with a shooting. ACT Ambulance Service Paramedics transported the man to hospital for treatment for non-life-threatening injuries.

ACT Policing’s Criminal Investigations team is leading the investigation and believe this was a targeted attack. There is no threat to the wider community.

At this time, police do not believe criminal gangs were involved.

Police are seeking witnesses, CCTV and dash-cam footage from the Palmerston area that captured any suspicious activity on Thursday afternoon. Anyone with such information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or via the Crime Stoppers ACT website. Please quote reference 6809344.
