ACT Policing’s investigation into the fatal collision that claimed the life of 19-year-old Lachlan Seary on the Monaro Highway about 1.10am on Monday 8 March is continuing.
Police are issuing a call for the driver of a truck that passed the location shortly after the collision to come forward, as they may be able to assist.
A police review of CCTV footage from a Monaro Highway service station shows the truck was the first vehicle to pass the location after the collision occurred.
Investigators do not believe this truck had any involvement in the collision, however, the truck driver may be able to provide information to police.
ACT Policing Detective Inspector Donna Hofmeier, Officer-in-Charge Road Policing, said the driver may not know they have important information.
“This tragic incident happened late at night on a length of road where there are no streetlights, so this truck driver may have passed the scene without realising there had been a serious collision,” Detective Inspector Hofmeier said.
“We would like to hear from anyone who may have seen either of the vehicles involved prior to the collision, and we believe the truck driver would have seen at least one of the two vehicles prior to the collision.
“I would like to ask any truck operators to check if one of their vehicles was in the area at the time, as we want to have the clearest possible picture of what happened.”
