ACT Policing is seeking witnesses to an attempted bag snatch incident that occurred in Belconnen last week.
About 4.10pm last Friday, 3 December, a 60-year-old woman was crossing Benjamin Way outside Westfield Belconnen using a walker.
While on the crossing, a young man has exited a nearby vehicle and attempted to take the woman’s handbag from her walker. The woman fell over and was dragged a short distance before members of the public intervened. The man returned to the vehicle and left the scene empty handed.
Police are urging anyone who witnessed the incident, including anyone who saw a vehicle driving quickly on Benjamin Way in Belconnen, at about 4.10pm on Friday, or anyone who may have dash-cam footage of the area at the time to come forward.
