The National Capital Authority (NCA) is asking for community views on a proposed amendment to reclassify the Molonglo Valley as Canberra’s sixth Town Centre.
National Capital Plan Draft Amendment 99 will support ACT Government planning for the ongoing
development of the Molonglo Valley, which is expected to accommodate 70,000 people by 2050.
The proposed amendment recognises that the population of the Molonglo Valley when complete
will result in additional demand for services and amenities and warrant a Town Centre to serve as
the main commercial hub for the district.
National Capital Plan Draft Amendment 99 is being advanced after a request from the ACT
Government to identify a Town Centre at Molonglo.
Town Centres are larger in size than Group or
Local Centres and provide a wider range of commercial services, offices and other facilities.
Submissions can be made via email to [email protected], by mail to GPO Box 373,
Canberra ACT 2600, or hand delivered to the Treasury Building, King Edward Terrace, Parkes ACT, 2600.
The NCA welcomes feedback on DA99 by 5pm Tuesday 25 June.
Visit the NCA website at www.nca.gov.au for further information about the amendment, the
consultation process and how to have your say.
