Rapana returns as Raiders name squad to take on Penrith

The Raiders have named their squad for their pressure clash against the Panthers at home on Friday night, with mixed news on the suspension front.

Jordan Rapana will return after missing the last three matches through suspension, while Jack Wighton will miss the next two weeks after copping a ban for a high shot on Jackson Hastings during Canberra’s 24-14 loss to Newcastle last weekend.

Rapana replaces James Schiller on the wing, while Jamal Fogarty returns at halfback and Matt Frawley moved to five-eighth.

For the first time this season, Raiders champion Jarrod Croker has been named on the reserves list as he edges closer to a potential NRL return.

Penrith have opted to rest Luke Garner with Scott Sorensen to start in the back row. Liam Martin remains sidelined with a hamstring issue, while Soni Luke is out after copping a head knock. Tyrone Peachey will play his first game for the club since 2018 after being named on the bench. Jaeman Salmon has been named on the bench despite battling a finger injury.

The 1-3 Raiders are under the pump heading into Friday night’s clash with the reining premiers and will be looking to break a string of four straight losses to Penrith. Sitting at just 1-2, the Panthers have had a somewhat slow start to the year given their lofty standards and will be keen to even their ledger.
