On Friday 2 September, a man was arrested for unlicenced drug driving, the same day he signed a bail undertaking with the conditions to not drive a motor vehicle. Â
About 6.00pm when detectives were executing a search warrant at a residence in Garran, a 27-year-old man arrived at the residence without a driver’s licence and engaged in conversation with police. Â
When officers asked the man to identify himself, he produced his bail undertaking (which was signed that morning) highlighting previous offences of driving while disqualified and conditions including, to not drive a motor vehicle.
The man also allegedly admitted to consuming methamphetamine before being arrested by officers at the scene. Police conducted a drug screen which produced a positive result.
He was transported to the ACT Watch House and has been charged with disqualified driving, breach of bail conditions and driving with a drug in oral fluid.
He is set to appear in the ACT Magistrates Court this morning where bail will be opposed.
