Replica firearms, knives, drugs seized in Kambah warrant

ACT Policing has seized a ‘slam fire’ shotgun, other weapons and drugs in a search warrant in Kambah on Friday morning, 29 October.

More than two months ago, in the early morning of Friday 20 August, a silver Subaru Forester failed to stop for police in the suburbs of Belconnen. Later that morning, the Forester was located in McKellar.

When checking the vehicle, ACT Policing observed a shotgun in two pieces, several shotgun shells and multiple knives within the vehicle. These items were seized by police.

As a result of the ongoing investigation, yesterday officers from ACT Policing Criminal Investigations and AFP Specialist Protective Command executed a search warrant at a Kambah residence.

During the search police located:

  • an improvised ‘slam fire’ shot gun
  • a gel blaster assault rifle
  • a replica pistol
  • improvised knives and throwing spears
  • metal pipes
  • multiples bags of white crystalline substance and drug paraphernalia

A 31-year-old male at the residence was subsequently arrested and charged with unauthorised possession of firearms, unauthorised manufacture of firearms, and breach of good behaviour order.

He was scheduled to appear in the ACT Magistrates Court yesterday, Saturday 30 October.

Anyone with information regarding the creation or possession of illegal firearms please contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or via the Crime Stoppers ACT website.  Information can be provided anonymously.
