Curtis Scott is set to pay the price for an altercation in an ACT pub with the Canberra Raiders centre to face at least two more weeks out after serving a three-game ban.
The NRL on Tuesday finalised their punishment for the 23-year-old, dishing out a $15,000 fine for the incident in a Canberra pub in May.
Scott has also had another $15,000 fine from last year activated for bringing the game into disrepute, meaning he will have to pay up $30,000 in total.
The NRL Integrity Unit also banned him for three games, with time served while stood down by the Raiders already fulfilling that suspension.
But it won’t be easy for the talented youngster to return to Canberra’s squad.
Scott has been out of the NRL bubble and in Sydney since he was stood down, meaning he won’t travel to Brisbane with the Raiders on Wednesday.
It means that at the very least he will need to enter a two-week COVID-hold period before returning to the club and flying to Brisbane.
There is also some chance he could have to serve further quarantine on entering Queensland, although the situation around that remains unclear.
The Raiders would also need to find room to fit him into their bubble, with just one spot remaining after filling 40 of the 41 positions this week.
That would likely depend on if the club suffers any serious injuries or suspensions while in the south-east Queensland camp.
Canberra have had Sebastian Kris impress in the centres in Scott’s absence, while Jarrod Croker is back from injury.
Youngster Matt Timoko has also likely jumped ahead of him in the pecking order.
Scott played just 13 games last year after an Australia Day incident where he was tasered by police and charged with resisting arrest before the case was thrown out of court.
He has two years left on his Raiders deal after arriving from Melbourne last year as a big-name recruit.
