Second man charged over Gowrie stabbing

A 23-year-old man is the second person to be charged in relation to a stabbing in October 2020 in Gowrie.

Police arrested the man yesterday, Wednesday 10 February, and charged him with attempted murder and aggravated robbery following an extensive investigation.

This is the second arrest in this matter, after the arrest and extradition of a 33-year-old Richardson man from Tasmania last week.

The men have been charged in relation to a stabbing incident that occurred in Gowrie on Thursday 1 October 2020 where the 23-year-old victim fled to a nearby service station for help.

The man is scheduled to appear in the ACT Magistrates Court today, Thursday 11 February, where bail will be opposed.

Two men charged following vehicle theft

Meanwhile, a 20-year-old man on a good behaviour order and a 33-year-old man on bail will face the ACT Magistrates Court today charged with multiple offences following a vehicle theft yesterday.

About 8.30am Wednesday 10 February, the owner of a BMW SUV contacted police to report the vehicle stolen.

Tracking technology installed in the vehicle recorded its location in several ACT and NSW suburbs during the morning. The vehicle was observed driving erratically at multiple locations and was twice driven directly at police officers on foot.

About 11.30am the vehicle was again engaged by police and stop-sticks were successfully deployed. Soon after, the vehicle collided with a Hyundai sedan before leaving the location.

A short time later the vehicle slowed while on Summerland Circuit, Kambah, where the two occupants fled on foot. Both men were arrested by police a short time later.

The 20-year-old man has been charged with breaching a good behaviour order, driving while disqualified, drive a vehicle without consent, fail to stop, fail to exchange details following a collision, dangerous driving and drug driving.

The 33-year-old man has been charged with breach of bail and riding in a vehicle without consent.

Both men are scheduled to appear in the ACT Magistrates court today, Thursday 11 February.
