Seven new COVID cases recorded in Canberra

The ACT has recorded seven new cases of COVID in the 24 hours to 8pm last night, the fourth consecutive day of single digit cases in Canberra.

It’s the second straight day of seven cases, while eight new infections were reported on both Thursday and Friday.

The number of people hospitalised with active or cleared coronavirus cases has gone up one to seven. There are still five patients in the ICU with four requiring ventilation.

There are 162 active COVID cases in the ACT, with the total number of infections up to 1,993 since the start of the current Canberra outbreak.

97.6 per cent of people aged 12 and over in the ACT have received two doses of the vaccine with an updated figure to come tomorrow.

There were 1,397 negative tests received in the 24 hours to 9am on Sunday.

Meanwhile, both NSW and Victoria recorded drops in COVID-19 cases with NSW recording 185 cases and zero deaths and Victoria reporting 1,061 infections and four deaths.
