‘Silly’ P-plater caught speeding by 61kmh in Kenny

An 18-year-old Forde man will have his licence cancelled after police detected him driving at 141km/h on Horse Park Drive, Kenny on Wednesday night, 11 January.

About 9.25pm, ACT Road Policing officers conducting mobile patrols measured the speed of a white Subaru XV at 61km/h more than the posted 80km/h limit.

Officers directed the driver to stop, and when he did so, observed there were also three passengers in the vehicle. The driver was asked why he was speeding, and he stated he was ‘being silly on his way home’.

The driver was issued with a Traffic Infringement Notice, fining him $1841 and will accrue six demerit points on his licence, which will be cancelled.
