Snow-goers rejoice with 85cm fresh snowfall

School holiday snow-goers were not discouraged by wild weather in the NSW snowfields over the weekend, as 85cm of fresh snow had fallen on Thredo by Monday afternoon 13 July.

Thredo marketing manager, Caroline Brauer, said demand had not faltered for this snow season, as recent snowfall allowed the resort to open more terrain.

“It was so great to see the entire mountain transform into a winter wonderland again, with many happy skiers and snowboarders about,” she said.

“Given the capacity restraints we’re implementing this winter to enable us to offer an environment where social distancing is possible, demand has been really strong.

“Passes for the school holiday period sold out quickly this year and since we’ve been able to open more terrain with the snowfalls this week, we’ve been able to release more passes into the market which have sold through really well already.”

The first weekend of the 2020 snow season kicked off on 22 June.

Ms Brauer said recent spikes in COVID-19 cases across Victoria and parts of NSW served as a reminder for those visiting the resort.

“It is definitely a timely reminder to all our guests that we are operating within a global pandemic,” she said.

“This is something we are constantly reminding our guests and employees and reinforcing the social distancing, hygiene and sanitisation measures we have rolled out across the resort for this winter.”

The resort is functioning under its COVID Safe Operating Plan, which Ms Brauer said had been developed closely with the NSW Department of Health.

“Our model includes capacity restraints of up to 50% usual capacity, lift line spacing measures, a limit of how many people can ride lifts together, the installation of sanitisation stations and reminder signage and messages delivered across the resort and across our digital channels,” she said.

For those interested in visiting the resort, lift pass availability can be found online.
