Southern NSW records two COVID deaths, 436 cases

The Southern NSW Local Health District (SNSWLHD) has recorded two COVID deaths and 436 new infections.

The deaths are a man in his 90s from the Goulburn Mulwaree LGA and a man in his 70s from Bega Valley.

321 of the new cases are from PCR tests with 115 from rapid antigen tests.

The number of people in hospital with the virus has dropped by ten to 14 with three in the ICU. 27 people are under active care.

There are 3,941 active COVID cases in the region.

The total number of cases in the SNSWLHD since 1 July is 6,841 and there have now been six deaths.

  • The Queanbeyan Palerang LGA recorded 135 new COVID-19 cases.
  • Goulburn Mulwaree LGA recorded 53 new cases.
  • Bega Valley LGA has 47 new infections.
  • Eurobodalla LGA has 37 new cases.
  • Snowy Monaro LGA has 34 new COVID infections.
  • Yass Valley LGA reported 10 COVID-19 cases.
  • Upper Lachlan reported 5 new cases.

Meanwhile, NSW recorded almost 30,000 new infections and 36 deaths.

One person was aged in their 40s, two people were aged in their 50s, one person was aged in their 60s, 11 people were in their 70s, 12 people were in their 80s and nine people were in their 90s.

Of the 36 people who died; 33 people had received at least two doses of a COVID-19 vaccine, and three people were not vaccinated.
