Support hub in Melba to help those impacted by storm

A Community Support Hub will be open from 10.00am today, Sunday 10 December, at Melba Copland Secondary School – Senior Campus at 97 Verbrugghen Street, Melba to assist those affected by the recent storm.

Community Liaison Officers and ACT Fire & Rescue Community Fire Unit volunteers will be there to provide support to community members who continue to be without power.

There are also facilities to dispose of food waste, charge devices such as phones, laptops and tablets and bags of ice for those who need it.

Since Friday afternoon, the ACT State Emergency Service has received more than 900 requests for assistance from the Canberra community.

If you have requested assistance, you may receive a call-back seeking further information. This call may come from a Canberra landline or mobile number.

If you no longer need assistance or have missed a call from the ACTSES, please call back on 132 500.

Staff and volunteers are working as quickly as possible to attend to all incidents.
