Suspicious fire in Torrens under police investigation

Investigations are underway after emergency services attended a suspicious fire in Torrens last night, 11 November.

About 7.30pm, ACT Fire & Rescue and ACT Police attended an apartment in Batchelor Street, Torrens following reports of a house fire.

On arrival, police found the apartment well alight. The residence was unoccupied at the time of the fire. 

ACT Fire and Rescue extinguished the fire with the apartment sustaining significant damage. No other apartments in the area were affected.

The circumstances surrounding the fire are being investigated by detectives from ACT Policing’s Criminal Investigations.
