A huge weekend of ice hockey in the capital has seen the Caribou CBR Brave secure back-to-back wins, six points and top spot in the AIHL at the halfway mark of the season, reports Sean O'Connor.

The CBR Brave are the 2022 Goodall Cup champions beating the Newcastle Northstars 3 goals to 2 in this afternoon’s Australian Ice Hockey League Grand Final at the O’Brien Icehouse in Melbourne. 

The CBR Brave are one step closer to an Australian Ice Hockey League Goodall Cup with a dominant 6-1 win over the Newcastle Northstars last night, Friday 2 September, at the O’Brien Icehouse in Melbourne.

The CBR Brave tuned up for their upcoming appearance in the finals with an 8-goals-to-1 win over an undermanned Sydney Ice Dogs.

The CBR Brave have claimed a comprehensive 8-2 win over the Newcastle Northstars to extend their lead on top of the ladder.

The CBR Brave travelled up the Hume Highway and dominated the second-placed Sydney Bears in a 9-1 thrashing.

The CBR Brave held on to first place on the AIHL ladder after a visit to the Newcastle Northstars for two games over the weekend.

The CBR Brave beat the Sydney Bears 11-4 in a high-scoring affair at the Phillip Swimming & Ice Skating Centre.

The CBR Brave will be looking to consolidate top place when they take on the Sydney Bears in Canberra on Saturday afternoon.

The second game of the weekend Ice Hockey double-header for the CBR Brave was a close-fought affair, which saw them have to come from behind to take the points from the Melbourne Ice, winning 7-3.

After a close first period, the AIHL-leading CBR Brave turned on the pressure and ran away with the first game of this weekend’s double-header at the Phillip Ice Skating Rink on Saturday evening - a 9 goals to 1 win against the visiting Melbourne Ice.
