Australians could benefit from cheaper airfares before Christmas if the government rethinks its decision to reject Qatar Airways' bid for extra flights.
Qatar Airways has branded the Albanese government's decision to block additional flights to Australia "very unfair" after the airline helped get Australians home during the pandemic.
International flights will again touch down at Canberra Airport from 1 October with today's announcement that Qatar Airways will recommence its once-daily connection between Doha and Canberra, via Melbourne.
