All Canberrans are invited to put their Wipeout adventure skills to the test as the Canberra Aqua Park at Lake Burley Griffin reopens for summer.
Filled to the brim with summer lovinโ activities, grab your togs and have a ball on the giant inflatables, balance on a paddle board, or be tossed into the air by the brand-new jumping pillow โ thereโs hours and hours of fun.
Canberra Dailyโs ownintrepid journalist, Abbey Halter, went along to check out the Park and spent the afternoon reliving her childhood on the epic inflatables (although, there were a couple of falls) and enjoying a pleasant paddle around the Lake.
โThe water was so lovely to swim in, and the Park was so much fun! I had a great time on the stand-up paddle boards, but my favourite was definitely the inflatables,โ Abbey said.
โI canโt wait to try the jumping pillow next time!โ
Owner of the Park, Will Yeap, said heโs excited to be opening for the third year running and itโs so nice to be back after Covid-19 shut down the attraction last year.
โOur first year was filled with smoke and fire, then our second year was Covid-19, so weโre hoping for a semi-normal year this year,โ Will smiled.
โThe last couple of months Canberrans have been obviously staying home, so Iโm sure theyโll want to get out of the house and come check out the Aqua Park.โ
Itโs a great place for birthday parties and helps the kids to burn off their energy for a couple of hours, Will said.
โWe built the Aqua Park with two other friends because we were talking about how to get our young kids off screens. Some parents bring their kids here for a few hours after school, so we have stand-up paddle boards now to provide another activity for the kids to do,โ he said.
โThe area has a really nice backdrop, and the water here is the best quality in Lake Burley Griffin because of the wind, so we just want to get people out and give them another outlet.โ
The Aqua Park is open from 10am to 8pm every day (except Christmas Day). Tickets can be booked online at canberraaquapark.com/tickets
