A 15-year-old Belconnen girl is among seven arrests made by ACT Policing in a targeted operation that has seen drugs, firearms, stolen vehicles, over $14,000 in cash suspected to be proceeds of crime, and more items seized.
Police say Operation Kilcoy was established to investigate numerous leads arising after a man’s arrest on Thursday 2 March.
Detective Acting Inspector Sam Norman from ACT Policing’s Proactive Intervention and Diversion Team said the success of Operation Kilcoy showed the value of members of the public supplying information to police.
“All these arrests have come about after we investigated one criminal act reported by one person a few weeks ago,” Detective Acting Inspector Norman said.
“This job has really been like pulling at a thread, as more and more evidence of criminal activity came to light.”
On Friday 14 April, police intercepted a vehicle in Dickson, and executed a search warrant. The search located nine grams of methylamphetamine, and two vials of gamma hydroxybutyrate (GHB).
A 25-year-old O’Connor man was arrested and has been remanded in custody. He is due to appear in court next month (19 June) charged with trafficking in a controlled drug other than cannabis.
A 42-year-old woman was also arrested, and granted bail. She is scheduled to appear in court on 24 May charged with possession of a declared substance without authorisation.
Police anticipate further charges will be laid once government laboratory analysis of seized substances is complete.
On Wednesday 3 May, a 38-year-old Turner man was arrested and charged with five counts of unauthorised manufacture of firearms.
On 8, 9, and 10 May, police executed 17 search warrants on premises across the ACT. During these warrants, the following items were seized:
- 45 grams of methamphetamine with an estimated street value of $31,000
- 3 conductive energy weapons
- 6 prohibited firearms (gel blasters and ‘BB guns’)
- 2 prohibited crossbows
- 1 prohibited knife
- $14600 cash – suspected to be proceeds of crime.

- About 1kg of cannabis
- 10 stolen electric bikes
- 16 stolen electric scooters
- 1 Jeep Utility – suspected of being stolen from a farm
- 1 industrial size diesel generator suspected of being stolen
- 7 prescription pads suspected of being stolen from Medicare
- 12 duffle bags full of power tools suspected to be stolen
- 8 mobile phones
- 6 tablet computers suspected of being stolen
- 3 vials of a substance suspected of being GHB
- Assorted memory cards and sim cards
- 8 bottles of methadone
- Multiple clip seal bags of heroin
- A variety of prescription medications
- Various other tablets and steroids
Two people were arrested and granted bail – a 15-year-old Belconnen area girl who was the subject of a first-instant warrant, and a 34-year-old Chisholm woman for breach of bail.
A 41-year-old Turner woman was also arrested, and is due to face the ACT Magistrates Court today, Thursday 11 May, charged with trafficking in a controlled substance other than cannabis, two counts of possession a prohibited weapon, and dealing with the suspected proceeds of indictable crime.
During the investigation and the execution of the warrants, ACT Policing was supported by numerous external agencies including NSW Police, ACT Domestic Animal Services, and the RSPCA.
Investigations surrounding some of the seized items are continuing and police expect to lay charges against more offenders.
“Anyone who has been involved in these criminal enterprises who has not yet been arrested should prepare for a knock on their door soon,” Detective Acting Inspector Norman said.
