Ten animals were stolen from the Yarralumla Play Station last week on the night of Thursday 27 August, with ACT Policing asking anyone with any information to come forward.
Between 8.15 and 8.50pm, police believe fencing around the property was cut and two frizzle chickens, a Polish rooster, two pink piglets, two black and pink spotted piglets, and three light brown and white turkeys were stolen from their pens.
Police have been in contact with Domestic Animal Services (DAS) to help locate the animals.
Yarralumla Play Station management were mostly concerned about the missing piglets as โthey were not ready to be removed from their mother and would need bottle feeding to surviveโ.
โ(We) also hatched the chickens from eggs โฆ and raised them before bringing them into the farm, so all our animals are more than just farm animals to us and we would dearly love to have them all back,โ they wrote on a Facebook post.
Despite having 18 high definition cameras installed around the Yarralumla Play Station, footage was unable to identify any of the culprits, leading management to believe the perpetrators had โcased the jointโ.
Detective Inspector Adrian Craft has asked people to come forward with any information that will help in locating these animals.
โThis is a very sad incident. We are concerned for the welfare of these animals, and we of course would like the animals returned for all the children who visit the Play Station,โ he said.
โInvestigations into the theft of the animals is ongoing, and police would like to speak to anyone with information about this incident.โ
