With another Canberra autumn weekend nearly upon us, there’s a rich array of things to do across town from tonight, Friday 9 April, to Sunday 11 April.


Friday 9 April

The high anticipated new work from Canberra playwright David Finnigan, You’re Safe ‘til 2024: Deep History, opened last night at The Courtyard Studio, Civic, with limited tickets available for tonight and Saturday night’s performances.

A production of Louis Nowra’s poignant comedy Così by Canberra REP starts tonight, 9 April, running until 24 April at Canberra REP Theatre, Acton; canberrarep.org.au

As a part of the Heritage Festival, Forrest’s Canberra Fire Museum will be open this weekend, 10 April 10am-3pm. Get along to see their collection of fire vehicles that range from 1913 to 1974, also uniforms and equipment.

Sunday 11 April

The Jaguar Driver’s Club of Canberra is inviting the public to join them in a display of classic Jaguars to celebrate their 50th birthday at Hall Sportsground, Sunday 11 April 10am-3pm. With over 50 cars expected to be on display, the event offers a great opportunity to view the cars, chat to their owners and contribute to the Salvation Army Red Shield Appeal, through a gold coin donation for entry.

Braddon’s Ainslie and Gorman Arts Centre hosts the LGBTIQ+ Elders Dance Club Canberra, a free monthly dance event for lesbian, gay, bi-sexual and transgender and intersex people over 55, held 1-3pm every second Sunday of the month; agac.com.au
