Three new COVID-19 cases detected in Queanbeyan region

NSW Deputy Premier John Barilaro has announced three new positive COVID-19 cases in the Queanbeyan and Googong area on 6 September, as well as two in Goulburn.

Mr Barilaro said that two of the cases are in Queanbeyan (one in Karabar) and are both believed to be linked to the current ACT outbreak. The other case is in Googong which is a close contact of a confirmed case reported last week.

The two cases in Goulburn are still under investigation, however it is believed one of the cases is currently isolating in Western NSW where they work.

Mr Barilaro announced on Tuesday afternoon, 7 September, that there are no current venues of concern in NSW associated with the confirmed cases in Queanbeyan, Karabar and Googong.

The new cases come four days after Queanbeyan recorded two cases on 2 September with both of those also linked to the Canberra outbreak.

Mr Barilaro said there had been an increase in cases in Southern NSW with Cooma and Batemans Bay also recording fresh cases.

“There were two cases in southern New South Wales, one in Batesmans Bay and one in Cooma,” said Barilaro.

Both of those cases remain under investigation.
