Three new COVID cases in Queanbeyan, two in Yass

The Southern NSW Local Health District (SNSWLHD) has recorded five new COVID cases in the 24 hours to 8pm last night, with three in Queanbeyan.

All three cases in the Queanbeyan-Palerang area remain under investigation. Two cases are in Jerrabomberra and one is in Queanbeyan.

There are also two new cases in the Yass Valley region which are linked. One case is in Yass and one is in Gundaroo.

The total cases in the SNSWLHD is now at 409 since the start of the outbreak in June.

The areas within the SNSWLHD that have active cases are Queanbeyan-Palerang (45), Goulburn (23), Eurobodalla (3), Yass (2), Bega Valley (4) and the Snowy Monaro region (25).

There are two people in hospital with the virus.

The SNSWLHD also announced they will switch from reporting “active cases” to “cases under virtual care” in each LGA.

You will notice a significant decrease in numbers as a result of this shift.

This method of reporting gives a better representation of how COVID-19 is impacting our region, and how care is being provided.

“Virtual care” means caring for patients using technology, while they stay at their own homes.

The NSW Health website has detailed information about the way COVID-19 patients are assessed and cared for.
