Housing has become a commodity that creates windfall profits for big-time investors and multinational corporations. So, if we do nothing then these are the questions you must ask yourself: “I didn’t need housing, so I did nothing? I had plenty of security; so I did nothing? I had a good amount of super for retirement; so I did nothing? But then I found myself without a thing, enslaved within a controlling system, with no-one left to save us”. House prices in comparison to wages have created a real crisis for young people trying to have a place to call home. And we need an urban sprawl like a hole in the head. What we should focus on is on small, health conscious, self-sustaining, self-managing villages that seek to maximise human and resource potentials by simultaneously reducing both financial expenditure and personal discomfort.
