We all adore a relaxing staycation, either with a loved one or by yourself for some much-needed solitude. Now that lockdown restrictions have finally eased, we can once again enjoy staying in a home that’s not our own!

Canberra Daily journalist Abbey Halter has compiled the 5 trendiest Canberra Airbnb’s to check out if you’re searching for a unique staycation.

Romantic Gypsy Retreat

$95/night

Polly has transformed her handcrafted caravan into an enchanting and unique home away from home, fully equipped with everything you need – including heating, and a quaint kitchenette. Take a leap back in time and enjoy the captivating charm The Gypsy Caravan exudes.

“Polly’s gypsy caravan is a real treat. The first thing I noticed (and loved) on stepping inside was the aroma of REAL wood – you know that sauna smell? Next was the fragrance of fresh jonquils in a vase. The parquetry floor was warm and beautiful to feel barefoot, even in winter. The kitchen bench is a monument to ‘tree’, a rich reddy brown, thick, with knots, and solid as. The bathroom is perfect, proving one doesn’t really need a ‘vanity’ when the stylish kitchen sink is half a metre away. The Cinderella toilet works like a charm. The bed is comfy – I haven’t slept that well in a long time. The gypsy van is tucked away behind the main house, so it feels quite private. The stained-glass windows provide more privacy again. I felt safe n sound. Cocooned. Thank you, Polly for making sure I had all I needed. Oh, and I loved your pesto!”

‘Branx’ Penthouse

$141.43/night

Description: This Airbnb is funky, modern construction at its finest with floating Oak flooring, a recessed porcelain kitchen sink and the stylish part, in my opinion, the cosmopolitan style balcony with modish circular portholes! You have the entire apartment to yourself to enjoy the incredible architectural design, and there’s even a special offer of a free bottle of South Australian wine (with conditions).

“Our stay was just amazing. The house was magnificent!! Jon and his wife allowed us to visit the chooks, and horses and do things that will create lifelong memories long after the stay has ended. The kitchen is large and extremely well stocked. The dining table is big enough to allow multiple families to dine together. All in all, it was wonderful and we hope to return!!”

Description: If you’re after something sophisticated and luxurious, check out this chic apartment in the heart of Braddon! With Canberra’s best restaurants, cafés and shopping right downstairs, this place features an abundance of natural light, expansive bedroom views, and even a plant-filled wintergarden right in the middle of the apartment – perfect for your morning coffee and arvo drinks.

“My girlfriend and I had such a fabulous stay in this amazing apartment. The decor is just stunning and when you think it can’t get any better, there is Aesop products in the bathroom. Daniel’s communication was amazing and check in was easy. If you are travelling to Canberra, Braddon is the place to be and Daniel’s apartment is in the best location for all the best restaurants. We would certainly love to return in the future.”
