Turner man caught travelling at twice the speed limit cops $1841 fine

A 26-year-old Turner man travelling at twice the posted speed limit in Barton is more than $1800 poorer after being caught by police on Friday night, 8 July.

At about 10pm on Friday, ACT Policing officers initially observed the man travelling at excessive speed on Eastlake Parade in Kingston.

Police then intercepted the Mazda 6 at Bowen Drive in Barton where they detected the man to be travelling at 120 km/h in a 60km/h zone.

The driver, who had two passengers in his vehicle, told police he was in a rush to get to his next shift.

His rush meant he was issued with an $1841 fine, ACT Policing said.
