The stars of Australian television are walking the red carpet as the 63rd Logie Awards begins in Sydney.
Gold Logie nominee Julia Morris, in a strapless white gown, said she was hoping not to have more than two wines or she might be a threat.
“Maybe I could tell a few people exactly how I feel about them,” she joked on the Channel Seven broadcast.
Best actress nominee Celeste Barber wore a silver sequin dress and white heels and revealed she had a chamois in her handbag to make sure her dress stayed shiny.
Mark Coles Smith, the first Indigenous actor up for a Gold Logie, for Mystery Road: Origin, said he was proud just to be nominated.
“I stand on the shoulders of giants,” he said.
“It’s a pleasure – a great honour.”
Jessica Mauboy wore a black fitted dress with gloves and oversized white cuffs and made the first of what is sure to be many plugs for The Voice, which is up for best entertainment program.
Lego Masters host Hamish Blake is favourite to win the Gold Logie, which would be his third.
He’s up against ABC current affairs host Leigh Sales, who has been nominated for the first time.
Voting will be open throughout the live broadcast until just before the winner is announced, so there could be all kinds of last-minute campaign shenanigans during speeches.
Other nominees for the coveted gold are Julia Morris from I’m A Celebrity … Get Me Out of Here! and Taskmaster, Sonia Kruger from The Voice, and comedian Shaun Micallef.
Also vying for the prize are Osher Gunsberg from The Bachelor and The Masked Singer, and Mystery Road: Origin star Mark Coles Smith.
The awards are being held in Sydney for the first time in 37 years.
If Blake does achieve a three-peat, it would put him in the realm of Rove McManus and Daryl Somers, who have each taken home gold three times.
If he doesn’t, Blake will have a unique consolation – building a bigger and better gold statue out of Lego.
The 63rd TV Week Logie Awards are being hosted by Sam Pang and broadcast on Seven, with Gold Logie voting open till 10.30pm Sunday.
