Two hours in the sun with Bavarian’s new Spring Fest

If you like the idea of spring sunshine, tasty cocktails, warm pretzels and delicious food, then the Bavarian’s new Spring Fest menu is right for you.

Boasting four fresh new spring-style cocktails and a set menu over a leisurely, two-hour dining experience, the package is very attractive for anyone who likes to sit back, relax and have all the decisions made for them. All decisions except, of course, if your next drink in the bottomless package will be one of the sweet cocktails, something from the taps or a glass of vino.

Your Spring Fest package begins the moment you enter the venue, greeted by friendly staff in the German beer hall style layout – think Munich’s Hofbräuhaus vibes.

Once seated at the long wooden tables, your dining experience starts with a soft, warm pretzel and a side of butter to slather on top as you desire.

Mains include a classic style, crispy chicken schnitzel served with hot chips, and a fresh roasted pumpkin, beetroot and goat’s cheese side salad.

What I must mention is the creamy mushroom sauce served on the side of the schnitzel.

If, like me, you are genuinely offended by a “mushroom sauce” served in the form of regular gravy with some mushrooms stirred through, I cannot stress enough that you will NOT be disappointed.

I have been on the hunt for the best creamy mushroom sauces in the Territory and this one ranks in my top three (yes, I am that passionate about creamy mushroom sauce).

To finish your dining experience, you will be treated to the house favourite apple strudel and vanilla ice cream – and will polish it off even if you think you can’t fit another thing in.

We visited the venue on a Sunday night, but looking at the outside beer garden, I think the Spring Fest experience would be even better suited to a warm spring day for a lazy lunch or early dinner in the sun.

If you’re having trouble picking between the Strawberry Margarita, Lychee Paradise, Apple-Tini, and Elderflower Garden, rest assured that each cocktail is as impressive as the next – although my pick would have to be the Elderflower.

At $69 per person, it is well worth supporting the local hospitality teams at the Bavarian, located in Woden or Belconnen – especially now we can start to enjoy the warmer spring weather.

Bookings are available online.
