Two more ram raids at Canberra shopping centres

ACT Policing is investigating overnight aggravated burglaries at shopping centres at Majura and Holt, following two similar incidents in Curtin and Melba early yesterday morning.

The two most recent incidents occurred about 2.10am today, Thursday 11 November.

At Majura Park, a white Citroen C5 and a black Jeep Cherokee were used to force entry to a store.

Three people entered the store and two bicycles were stolen before the offenders left the scene in the Jeep, abandoning the Citroen inside the store.

In Holt, ACT Policing officers on patrol discovered a Kia Sportage parked with its rear to the Kippax Shopping Centre. As the officers approached, the vehicle was driven from the scene onto Hardwick Crescent towards Southern Cross Drive.

Subsequent investigations revealed heavy damage to an entry door, and a heavy chain wrapped around an ATM as part of an unsuccessful attempt to drag it from the premises. It appears nothing was stolen.

Police do not believe these incidents are linked to each other, but are investigating if there are links to other aggravated burglaries earlier in the week.

ACT Policing urges anyone who has witnessed any suspicious activity at night or early in the morning any day this week to come forward.

Please contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or via the Crime Stoppers ACT website. Please quote 6957889 for the Majura incident and 6957866 for the Holt incident. Information can be provided anonymously.
