Unlicensed drink driver in uninsured car caught in Aranda

A 31-year-old Griffith man has been charged with high-range drink driving after ACT Policing intercepted a Mitsubishi Lancer on William Hovell Drive, Aranda about 9.29pm last night, Thursday 28 April.

The 31-year-old driver of the Lancer underwent a breath screening test which was positive. The man was taken into custody and conveyed to City Police Station.

Soon after, the driver provided a sample of breath that was sufficient for analysis and the result was 0.193 grams of alcohol per 210 litres of breath, almost four times the legal limit of 0.05.

The 31-year-old was served with an Immediate Suspension Notice, removing his right to drive.

He will appear in the ACT Magistrates Court on 1 June charged with drink driving, unlicensed driving and driving an unregistered and uninsured vehicle.
