Kaeo Weekes will become Raiders #397 after being named to make his first appearance for the club when they take on the Sharks in Canberra on Sunday.
The 22-year-old came to the club over the offseason from Manly and has found himself playing in the NSW Cup with Ethan Strange the preferred NRL five-eighth.
With halfback Jamal Fogarty set to miss three months with a biceps injury, Weekes will now get an extended chance in the top grade to partner Strange in the halves.
The Fogarty loss is a brutal one for Canberra, with the veteran enjoying a terrific start to the season. His absence leaves the Raiders desperately short of experience in the spine and without their goal kicker. Fullback Chevy Stewart took over kicking duties against Brisbane last week and may be asked to do the same on Sunday.
Meanwhile, the Sharks have lost five-eighth Braydon Trindall for the clash after he was stood down for failing a roadside alcohol and illicit drugs test on Monday morning. Daniel Atkinson has been named to replace Trindall, while Sione Katoa returns on the wing.
