Weston woman arrested for shoplifting, weapons offences

A 33-year-old Weston woman was arrested by ACT Policing’s Woden Station officers yesterday, Wednesday 6 April, after an investigation into several shoplifting incidents at a Mawson supermarket.

Police will allege that on five occasions between 26 October and 11 November 2021, the woman left the supermarket with fully-loaded trolleys without paying for all the goods in them.

After an investigation into the thefts, on Wednesday a search warrant was executed on the woman’s residence in Weston.

During the warrant, police located evidentiary items that will allegedly link the crimes to the woman.

Police also located other property suspected of being stolen, a home-made firearm, ammunition, and a substance police believe to be methylamphetamine.

Police will allege the woman committed these thefts with co-offenders.

The woman has been charged with five counts of theft, unlawful possession of stolen property, possession of ammunition, unauthorised possession of a firearm, and possessing a drug of dependence.

She is due to face the ACT Magistrates Court this morning, Thursday 7 April.
