What’s on around Canberra this weekend 1-3 July

The happiest time of the (mid) year is here! Christmas in July festivities are happening across the month, starting with the Christmas in July Festival at Parkes West Lawns this weekend.

Sunday also marks the beginning of this year’s NAIDOC Week. Why not spend your day at one of the many exhibitions or events dedicated to the culture of our First Nations People.

Whine and Weave:  First Nations artist Rechelle Turner instructs attendees how to weave, while you enjoy a glass of wine and listen to the beautiful live vocals of Tahalianna Soward-Mahanga, Tuggeranong Arts Centre, Friday 1 July 6pm; humanitix.com

Disconnected: An evolving NFT makes it way to Canberra for one weekend. As more people are connected to the internet the more it grows, shining light on the fact that many people still lack the education, access to medical information and social connection that comes from being online. MEGAfauna: Myths and legends: Travel back to the time of Megafauna, follow trails and discover creatures of years gone by at the Australian National Botanic Gardens, 1-31 July; anbg.gov.au

NAIDOC in the North: Belco Arts hosts a collection of activities across the week; try bushland delicacies, learn to weave, or listen to storytelling, at a number of locations in the Capital’s north, 2-9 July; belcoarts.com.au
