After a year hosting the breakfast slot, Neil Wilcock and Courtenay Kneen—better known as Wilko and Courts—are set to depart 104.7.

While former 104.7 breakfast hosts Ned & Josh were unexpectedly axed, Wilko and Courts have made it clear that their resignation was their own decision.

“There is no conspiracy. We were not fired. They did not steamroll us,” Courts said on air this morning.

“We just decided we didn’t want to do it and we are picking lifestyle choices,” Wilko said. “That was a decision that Courts and I made together.”

Their final show will air this Friday, 7 February and they will be replaced by the popular 106.3 drive duo Rod and Gabi (Rod Cuddihy and Gabi Elgood).

While the announcement was made on air this morning, Wednesday 5 February, the news leaked a day early after eagle-eyed Canberrans spotted buses promoting Rod and Gabi’s new role.

It’s fair to say Wilko and Courts weren’t expecting the news to be leaked that way.

“We resigned, and we’ve just been waiting for them to announce it, and obviously that’s out of our control,” said Wilko.

“We were like, I guess you guys have to say something soon. We didn’t know it was going to roll out the way that it did.”

“I don’t know if anyone did. I don’t know if there was a mistake that was made with the busses going out or what? But the buses kind of announced it for us,” said Courts.

Rod and Gabi will finish their 106.3 drive slot on Friday 21 February before starting their 104.7 breakfast show on Monday 24 February.
