IGNITE programs provide a variety of exciting arts development experiences for people living with disability, the d/Deaf, HOH and mental health issues. IGNITE programs are mostly free of charge and cater to all levels of skill and experience, from the beginner looking for a new interest, through to the professional practitioner.
IGNITE: Makers is a hands-on creative learning experience, facilitated by professional artist tutors. Classes take place in one of Belconnen Arts Centre’s accessible workshops (Thursdays).
IGNITE: Social aims to extend the cultural participation of IGNITE artists and improve access and inclusion in the arts as makers and viewers. Meeting at Belconnen Arts Centre, discussions will provide firsthand experience, build awareness, confidence and share information on existing networks and the wider arts community. Every other Friday, IGNITE: Social events will include gallery, theatre, sites of cultural significance and studio visits. The program will also facilitate on-site studio time at Belconnen Arts Centre for IGNITE artists. This is called IGNITE: Open and bookings can be made by contacting Belco Arts (Fridays).
IGNITE: Gallery locations display works on paper in permanently located frames across a number of venues in Canberra.
