Theย 2024 Russell Hobbs British Film Festivalย will be returned to cinemas around Australia fromย 6 November to 8 December. With a line-up of films fresh from international film festivals, and showcasing the best of British talent, both behind and in front of the camera, this year’s slate includes a celebrated collection ofย tender dramas, action-packed thrillers, comedies, documentaries, and classic retrospectives.
Some of the first highlights include the opening night filmย Blitz,ย Steve McQueen’s highly anticipatedย period drama direct from its London Film Festival Premiere. Featuring central performances from Saoirse Ronan and Paul Weller, this powerful and sweeping portrayal of British life during World War II follows a group of Londoners during the events of the British capital bombing; Special Festival Previewย Widow Clicquot, which portrays Barbe-Nicole Ponsardin,ย the โGrande Dame of Champagneโ, and the creation ofย Veuve Clicquot; and the Closing Night filmย We Live In Time, which will be making its Australian debut as part of the festival, followsย Oscar nominees Florence Pugh and Andrew Garfield as they find their livesย forever changed when a chance encounter brings them together, in a decade-spanning, deeply moving romance.
