The Canberra Symphony Orchestra returns to the Llewellyn Hall mainstage on 14 and 15 September for War and Peace, an orchestral experience of monumental proportions.
Conducted by Sam Weller, the program opens with Richard Strauss’ moving Metamorphosen for 23 solo strings. Then, acclaimed Australian pianist Kristian Chong joins the orchestra for Malcolm Williamson’s Second Piano Concerto, which Williamson described as ‘an overtly Australian work aiming at spontaneity and vigour rather than profundity.’
The concert culminates in Beethoven’s iconic, larger-than-life Eroica Symphony, which revolutionised the symphony form.
War and Peace is proudly presented by Canberra Daily.
Thanks to our friends at the CSO, CW has 4 x War and Peace double passes to the Thursday 15 September concert to be won.
