Witnesses sought after woman left near Tuggeranong Parkway

ACT Policing is seeking witnesses to a woman being left near the Tuggeranong Parkway and is asking a driver who assisted her to come forward.

In the early hours of Wednesday 19 May 2022, a 26-year-old woman attended City Police Station following an alleged sexual assault and forcible confinement incident.

At about 9pm the night before, Tuesday 18 May, the woman travelled to a man’s home in Kambah where an alleged sexual assault occurred. Sometime after, the woman was allegedly forced into the boot of a white Nissan Pulsar and driven north on the Tuggeranong Parkway.

She was removed from the Pulsar near the Arboretum overpass, and she commenced walking towards the City.

The woman was later picked up by a passer-by in a red vehicle and subsequently dropped at the City Police Station.

ACT Policing’s Sexual Assault and Child Abuse Team (SACAT) are conducting an investigation into the incident and are seeking the following:

  • The identity of the driver of the red vehicle that collected the woman and dropped her at the City Police Station.
  • Any witnesses who saw the woman walking near the Glenloch Interchange between 1.00am and 3.00am on Thursday 19 May.
  • Any witnesses who saw a white Nissan Pulsar driving in the vicinity between 1.00am and 3.00am on Thursday 19 May.

It is believed that at least five vehicles passed the woman on the side of the road prior to her being taken to the City Police Station.

Anyone who has any other information in relation to the incident should contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or via the Crime Stoppers ACT website.
