Woman arrested in relation to Queanbeyan knife incident

A woman has been arrested on the South Coast of NSW in relation to an incident in Queanbeyan yesterday, Thursday 3 June.

South Coast police say they were conducting patrols along Beach Road in Batemans Bay on Thursday when they noticed a blue Ford Focus believed to be linked to an earlier incident in Queanbeyan.

Police allege the car was used to flee the scene after an unknown man threatened two men with a knife in the car park of a fast food restaurant on Wanniassa Road in Queanbeyan East early Thursday morning.

The driver of the car, a 36-year-old woman, is currently assisting police with their enquiries. Investigations are continuing to locate the two passengers of the vehicle – a male and a female.

Police have established a task force to investigate whether the incident is linked to the shooting of a man in Queanbeyan later that morning.

At 7am yesterday, a 39-year-old man from Pambula presented to Queanbeyan Hospital with a gunshot wound to his stomach. He was transferred to Canberra Hospital in a serious condition.

Police are appealing for anyone who could assist with the investigation to contact Queanbeyan Police or Crime Stoppers.
