Seven months after 20-year-old Matthew McLuckie was killed in a two-vehicle collision on Hindmarsh Drive, a 20-year-old Bruce woman has been summonsed to court to face charges of manslaughter and other offences.
About 10.55pm on 19 May, police received reports of a vehicle travelling on the wrong side of Hindmarsh Drive – travelling east in the westbound lanes.
At this time, Mr McLuckie was driving home from work heading west. Police will allege a vehicle, driven by the 20-year-old woman, drove on the wrong side of the road towards him at 177 km/h.
The two vehicles collided head-on, and both vehicles were severely damaged.
Mr McLuckie suffered significant injuries, and died a short time later in the Canberra Hospital.
The female driver of the other vehicle also suffered significant injuries, and is still receiving extensive medical care.
