38-year-old woman dies in two-car crash near Murrumbateman

A 38-year-old woman has died following a two-vehicle crash on the Barton Highway, near Gounyan Road, between Murrumbateman and Yass, this morning.

NSW emergency services were called to the scene about 6.10am today, Thursday 13 October.

The driver of a Kia – a woman aged 38, died at the scene.

The driver of a Toyota Hilux – a man aged 31 – was trapped before being freed by Fire and Rescue NSW NSW. He was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedic before being airlifted to Canberra Hospital in a serious but stable condition.

NSW Police officers attached to the Hume Police District established a crime scene, which was examined by specialist forensic police.

The Barton Highway has since reopened to traffic.

An investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash is underway.

A report will be prepared for the information of the NSW Coroner.
